The Bridge Folk Club is one of the two oldest folk clubs in the country and has been a world famous venue since 1958. No other club has run for so long in the same venue and it has been host to many of the great legends of folk.
Every week you are guaranteed fine singers and musicians. We try to keep a focus on traditional material, particularly from Tyneside and the North East, but other styles of acoustic music within the same spirit are welcomed.
We are mainly a singers’ club. Visitors drop in from all over the country and the world - there can be some real surprises! Everyone has the chance to participate, whether it be a song, poem or monologue; but if you or just want to listen or join in the choruses that’s fine.
As well as the long-established members we often receive visits from the Folk Degree Students at Newcastle University, a stunningly talented group of people.
There is a modest charge for admission. The club does not operate on Bank holidays, Christmas or New Year.
The pub itself is a delight - a classic Victorian building with a great range of traditional and modern craft beers.
